SRHSB is delighted to announce new research grant funding to Dr Patricia Paez-Gonzalez, our SRHSB Publications Secretary and Executive Committee member, for her innovative work to treat ependyma damage.
The new research project entitled “Determination of the cellular/molecular mechanisms responsible for the efficacy of a therapy designed to recover the ependyma after intraventricular hemorrhages”, is funded by the National Research Agency under the Scientific and Technical Research and Innovation Program.
Dr. Patricia Paez-Gonzalez is an Associate Professor of Cell Biology at the University of Malaga. Her funded research focuses on determining the cellular and molecular mechanisms underpinning the effectiveness of a new therapy to treat ependyma damage developed in her laboratory. This therapy allows, for the first time, the recovery of the damaged ependyma after neonatal Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH). The ultimate goal of this research is to translate the therapy for clinical and pharmacological use. The new knowledge generated by this proposal will have direct application in the area of personalized neuroregenerative cell therapy, neuropediatrics, and pediatric neurosurgery.
Many congratulations to Patricia on this wonderful achievement and we wish her and her team every success with the project!
